There are more than 20,000 patients without family doctor in the area, and more than 1,000 patients already on the clinic’s wait list just 8 weeks after opening, so building a roster will not take long.  Hours of work are normally 8-10 3-hour blocks which translate into 4-5 6-hour days including afterhours commitment as per Ontario government regulations. Hours are flexible and are set by the physician themselves. The physician can do more hours if they would prefer or less while still providing adequate care for their patients.   The clinic uses CHR EMR, and offers billing support. Payment structure is via FHO model for family practice, and fee-for-service in the Urgent Care Clinic. The split arrangement is 72.5/27.5, which will turn into 75/25 once the physician reaches a 2,000-patient roster. The Urgent Care Clinic is set up in a way that soon the cap for the physicians can be removed and there will be no penalty for rostered patients to be seen by other physicians within the urgent care clinic.
