Changes to the MCCQE Part I in 2025

June 13, 2023

The Medical Council of Canada (MCC) is working on several grant-funded projects and seeking to improve access to its assessments and services for Canadian medical graduates, as well as for international medical graduates and internationally educated physicians.

One of these priority projects focuses on improvements to the delivery and the candidate experience of the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE) Part I.

After several months of research, collection of key data points, expert consultation, and operational considerations, we are defining a new MCCQE Part I assessment model to be implemented as of April 2025.

The Alberta government says it's closing in on a new deal for family doctor pay, but a physicians' group says it must include those with small patient rosters.

Those riding the Tube in London or buses in Glasgow might notice Government of B.C. advertisements that read: “Providing care for families should allow you to provide for yours” or “A better deal for family doctors, more time for patients.”

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Ontario Premier Doug Ford signed an agreement on Friday that details how the province must spend $3.1 billion in federal funding earmarked for health care.

As part of the deal, the provincial government must create new primary health-care teams, which include family doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists and social workers.
